Laconia Motorcycle Week Executive Director Charlie St. Clair Dies at 76
LACONIA, NH — Charlie St. Clair, the long-time executive director of Laconia Motorcycle Week, passed away over the weekend due to injuries from a motorcycle crash.
St. Clair, 76, succumbed to injuries sustained three weeks prior in Avon, Ohio, while en route to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. According to the Laconia Motorcycle Week Association, the accident was caused by a tire issue on his motorcycle.
Emergency responders were on the scene, but details about his medical aid following the incident have not been disclosed. Motorcycle Week officials announced St. Clair’s death on their Facebook page, expressing gratitude for the support he received from friends and family.
St. Clair had led the Laconia Motorcycle Week for 35 years, promoting the event into the largest motorcycle rally in the United States. He was recognized as “Promoter of the Year” by the American Motorcyclist Association in 2014 and was inducted into the Sturgis Museum Hall of Fame in 2008.
Born in Laconia on April 16, 1950, St. Clair also served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives and the Laconia Planning Board. Laconia Motorcycle Week, which takes place in June, is known for its scenic rides and racing events, dating back to its origins in 1916.
His contributions to the motorcycle community will be remembered as Laconia prepares for its 104th rally scheduled for June 12-20, 2027.
