Louisiana State Troopers probe dual fatal crashes from Friday night.

Prairieville, LA – Louisiana State Troopers are investigating two fatal crashes that occurred on Friday night, authorities said.

The first crash happened at approximately 10:15 p.m. near LA Highway 42 and Muddy Creek Road in Ascension Parish, resulting in the death of 20-year-old Matthew Shields. According to police, 45-year-old Danny Tabor, Jr., driving eastbound in a 2007 Ford F-150, turned left onto Muddy Creek Road, colliding with Shields, who was traveling westbound on a 2025 Yamaha motorcycle. Shields was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Tabor, uninjured, faces multiple charges, including negligent homicide and driving under suspension.

The second incident occurred shortly after near LA Highway 67 and Rolling Acres Drive in East Baton Rouge Parish. A 2016 Chevrolet Silverado struck Hezzie McCaleb, who was walking near the center of the road. McCaleb, 37, sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities reported.

Both crashes are under investigation.
