LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A motorcycle crash on 19th Street left a 19-year-old rider deceased on Thursday afternoon.
Lubbock Police Department responded to the incident shortly after 12:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of 19th Street.
The rider, identified as Austin Reel, was critically injured and transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
According to authorities, Reel was traveling west on 19th Street when he lost control entering the on-ramp to westbound Marsha Sharp Freeway. The motorcycle struck a raised median and a guardrail, causing Reel to be thrown from the vehicle.
All lanes of Marsha Sharp Freeway were reopened by 8 p.m. following the incident.
