Mark McCarthy, 39, received the sentence from a Circuit Court judge on Wednesday after pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated resulting in death, according to the St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
McCarthy also admitted guilt to multiple charges, including driving with a revoked license, operating a motorcycle without valid authorization, failing to register a vehicle, and lacking financial responsibility.
On the day of the incident, McCarthy was driving along Mexico Road with 4-year-old Calvin Spurlock as a passenger when the motorcycle crashed into a utility pole, ejecting both individuals. Spurlock was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.
