MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. – A motorcyclist, identified as 23-year-old Matthew Castellanos, died in a collision with a vehicle driven by an intoxicated man.
Authorities said 41-year-old Keith Starnes was arrested on charges of reckless homicide and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Castellanos was riding south on Franklin St. when Starnes, heading north, turned left onto Westwind Dr., resulting in the crash.
According to police, Castellanos was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. First responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
Starnes was booked into the LaPorte County Jail on a $15,000 bond. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
