Alleged Squatter Complies with Court Order
Brittany N. Jones has vacated the Old World Gingerbread Village property, adhering to a court order to leave by midnight on December 28. Property owner Carol Sarault previously accused Jones of squatting in the building.
The two reached a settlement on December 23, preventing further public comment from either party. Jones has addressed her situation on social media, stating she is working on a new location to serve the community.
Local property owners have shown support for Sarault, citing similar experiences. Additionally, House Bill 3522, effective January 1, 2026, aims to streamline eviction processes for property owners dealing with squatters, though some remain skeptical about enforcement.

Additional funding may be allocated over the next few years, contingent upon annual progress reviews by federal officials. The OHA intends to distribute funds starting in 2026, prioritizing projects with rapid launch potential.
