A motorcyclist died in a collision with a large truck on State Road 7 near Royal Palm Beach on Friday afternoon, according to West Palm Beach Police.
The crash, which occurred around 2:20 p.m. between Okeechobee Boulevard and Orange Grove Boulevard, prompted the closure of State Road 7 for several hours. The roadway reopened shortly after 6:15 p.m. as the investigation concluded.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced one person dead upon arrival. The incident is under investigation by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. West Palm Beach Police confirmed the motorcycle operator sustained fatal injuries.
Authorities advised motorists to avoid the area during the investigation.
