A motorcyclist was pronounced dead following a crash on westbound Interstate 80 between Peru and La Salle on Saturday night.
First responders received the call at 9:57 p.m., according to the Illinois State Police. The rider, who was the sole occupant of the motorcycle, was declared deceased at the scene. The identity of the motorcyclist has not yet been released.
One lane of westbound I-80 was closed for approximately three hours as emergency personnel managed the scene and conducted their investigation. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under review by authorities.
