GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — A motorcycle crash on South Island Road resulted in one fatality and one injury Sunday evening, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at 5:45 p.m. when a motorcycle traveling south veered off the roadway near George Washington Trail and collided with a ditch.
The driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead while en route to a local hospital. A passenger was also injured and is currently hospitalized.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
