Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on Route 45 in Gurnee
UNINCORPORATED GURNEE, Ill. — A 27-year-old motorcyclist died following a crash on Route 45 Saturday morning, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the incident near Dada Drive around 6:20 a.m. A witness reported that the motorcyclist was speeding northbound on Route 45 when he temporarily lost control of his 2007 Harley Davidson.
After regaining control, the motorcyclist continued north but crossed into the southbound lane while navigating a curve, colliding with a 2005 Nissan Rogue. The motorcyclist was ejected and sustained critical injuries.
Sheriff’s deputies administered a tourniquet before transporting him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Nissan Rogue was uninjured and is cooperating with law enforcement.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team is conducting the investigation.
