CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, IL (Chambana Today) – A motorcycle crash on Illinois Route 130 Tuesday evening resulted in the death of 37-year-old Andrew L. Ward from Allerton.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 6:45 p.m. after Ward fled from a traffic stop initiated by Villa Grove Police. Officers attempted to pull him over for a traffic violation when he sped northbound on Route 130.
Ward collided with a pickup truck approximately two miles north of Philo. He was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, confirmed by an autopsy performed the following day. Two occupants of the pickup truck were injured; however, their injuries remain undisclosed.
The Illinois State Police are leading the ongoing investigation into the incident.
