LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — A motorcyclist died following a collision with a car on Valley Drive in Las Cruces Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Las Cruces Police Department, the incident occurred around 1:30 p.m., prompting the temporary closure of Valley Drive at Rigsby Road.
Police reported that the motorcyclist sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to University Medical Center of El Paso, where they later died.
The identity of the motorcyclist has not been released.
Details on the cause of the crash are limited at this time; however, authorities confirmed the closure of Valley Drive from Avenida de Mesilla to Boutz Road.
Rigsby Road also remains closed near its intersection with Valley Drive as the investigation continues.
