PALM BEACH CO., Fla. — A fatal motorcycle crash on State Road 7 claimed one life on Friday afternoon, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the incident occurred at approximately 2:58 p.m. on September 4, when a 61-year-old Boca Raton man driving a Chevy Equinox turned left from EF Johns Parkway onto State Road 7.
At the same time, a Yamaha motorcycle, operated by an unidentified male, was traveling northbound in the center lane of State Road 7.
As the Chevy crossed SR 7, it entered the motorcycle’s path, resulting in a collision. The motorcycle struck the rear door of the Chevy.
The force of the crash ejected the motorcycle operator, who came to rest in the back seat of the Chevy, according to authorities.
Emergency responders pronounced the motorcycle driver dead at the scene; the driver of the Chevy was not injured.
The incident remains under investigation by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Lane closures were implemented on SR 7 during the response and investigation. The roadway was reopened later that afternoon.
