Motorcyclist dies in collision with deer, according to sheriff’s report.

TOWNSHIP OF WILSON, Wis. — A 69-year-old motorcyclist died after colliding with a deer on County Highway D on August 22, 2026, authorities reported.

The incident occurred around 6:45 p.m. in the N2700 block of County Highway D. The rider, identified as Bruce Anderson, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Eau Claire County deputies responded to the crash, and the Wisconsin State Patrol is conducting a reconstruction of the incident. Investigators stated that speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.

Officials indicated that Anderson was likely wearing a helmet, which was found approximately 20 feet from his location, possibly unstrapped or too loose.

Eau Claire County Sheriff Dave Riewestahl cautioned drivers to remain vigilant for deer, especially during dawn and dusk, noting that the presence of one deer often indicates others may be nearby.

The road was briefly closed during the investigation, and no additional injuries were reported at this time.
