SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Battleground Road near Phillips Drive on July 2 around 9:15 a.m.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 2026 Yamaha sport bike was traveling south on Phillips Drive when the motorcyclist ran a stop sign and collided with a 2024 Kenworth tractor-trailer. The motorcyclist died at the scene; the truck driver was uninjured.
The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 21-year-old Brandon Luke Shiflett. A forensic exam is scheduled for Friday.
The intersection is located near Mountain View Baptist Church and Interstate 85 Exit 83 (SC Highway 110). The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released.
