Fremont, CA – A motorcycle collision on Interstate 680 near the Washington Boulevard off-ramp left one rider dead on Friday, July 24, 2026, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred around 7:20 a.m. on the northbound lanes of Interstate 680. Authorities reported that the motorcycle was traveling at an excessive speed before crashing into the center divide wall and a guardrail.
The rider was discovered on the right shoulder of the roadway. Witnesses attempted to assist as paramedics from the Alameda County Fire Department arrived and initiated CPR.
A SigAlert was issued, closing lanes one and two, as well as the express lane, on northbound Interstate 680 near Washington Boulevard, with no estimated time for reopening. A tow for the motorcycle was requested, and the coroner was notified to respond to the scene. All lanes were cleared, and the SigAlert was lifted at approximately 11:16 a.m.
No further information about the deceased rider has been released. The incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
