Motorcyclist dies in morning crash in Valley.

A motorcycle crash near Valley, Nebraska, resulted in the death of a 24-year-old man on Thursday morning.

Blake Escamilla, of Fremont, was pronounced dead shortly after 6 a.m. at the intersection of Reichmuth and Pawnee Road. Authorities said Escamilla was traveling westbound on Old Highway 275 when he collided with an eastbound semi.

The semi, driven by Brian Heldt, 50, also of Fremont, attempted to turn left from Old Highway 275 onto Highway 36, crossing into Escamilla’s path. Heldt was not injured in the crash, officials confirmed.

Emergency services responded to the scene, and the road was temporarily closed during the investigation. Traffic investigators are looking into the incident, and tow services were called to remove the vehicles involved.

AAA Nebraska reported that 20 motorcyclists have died in crashes on Nebraska roadways so far this year, matching the total for all of 2016.
