Motorcyclist killed in crash with car in Peters Township, Franklin County, on Friday afternoon, police confirm.
PETERS TOWNSHIP, Pa. —
Brandon Winterod, 47, of Georgetown, Ohio, died following a motorcycle accident on Lincoln Way West/Route 30 near Brooklyn Road just before 2:30 p.m., according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Authorities said Winterod was riding a Harley-Davidson Street Glide at an unsafe speed and tailgating a Ford Focus. The Focus slowed to make a left turn when the collision occurred.
Winterod attempted to evade the crash by laying the motorcycle down, but it slid into the car, throwing him forward. He struck the rear of the vehicle with his head.
Winterod was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the Ford Focus were unharmed.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, and the roadway was briefly closed for investigation and cleanup. The incident remains under investigation by state police.
