Motorcyclist hospitalized following crash on Three Mile Bridge that sent him onto pedestrian path.

GULF BREEZE, Fla. — A motorcycle crash on the Three Mile Bridge left a 65-year-old man hospitalized on Friday morning.

The incident occurred around 10:40 a.m. as the motorcycle was traveling north and lost control, striking the concrete barrier next to the pedestrian pathway.

According to the Midway Fire District, the driver was ejected over the barrier but was located on the pathway upon first responders’ arrival. Firefighters had to climb over the curbside barrier to reach him.

The motorcyclist was the sole individual injured in the incident. Emergency crews, including Gulf Breeze Fire, Pensacola Engine 5 Rescue, and Lifeguard EMS, provided medical aid before transporting him to Ascension Sacred Heart as a trauma alert.

Gulf Breeze Police reported that witnesses had stopped to assist, applying a tourniquet to control the bleeding. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Authorities noted that witnesses described the motorcycle accelerating rapidly before the accident, weaving between emergency lanes and traffic.

The right lane and emergency lane on the bridge were closed for approximately two hours while investigators processed the scene.
