VIRGINIA CITY, Nev. (KOLO) – A 34-year-old Reno man died Sunday night after his motorcycle crashed on State Route 341, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 8:50 p.m. north of D Street, between Carson Street and B Street.
Preliminary investigations indicate the rider was traveling northbound on a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he lost control on a left curve, struck the guardrail, and was thrown from the bike. The motorcycle ultimately landed across the northbound lane.
The driver, identified as Stephen Klein, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
The Nevada Highway Patrol Major Incident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash. Authorities suspect both excessive speed and driver impairment as contributing factors.
