Motorcyclist Injured After Consecutive Crashes on Route 59, According to Plainfield Police.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Two crashes on Route 59 led to serious injuries on Monday morning, authorities reported.

Emergency responders were called at approximately 5:30 a.m. to Route 59, near Dunkin’, for a collision involving a Ford box truck and a Cadillac SUV. The box truck was making a left turn from the coffee shop parking lot and failed to yield, resulting in the collision with the Cadillac, according to Administrative Sergeant Luke Ostreko.

Following the initial crash, the box truck moved to a nearby parking lot while the Cadillac remained disabled at the scene. At around 5:37 a.m., a Honda motorcycle traveling north on Route 59 struck the unoccupied Cadillac, ejecting the rider.

The driver of the Cadillac was transported to Edward Hospital in Naperville with non-life-threatening injuries. The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries but was reported to be in stable condition after being taken to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, Ostreko stated.

The driver of the box truck received citations for disobeying a traffic control device and failure to yield.

The second crash, involving the motorcycle, is currently under investigation.
