A motorcyclist was killed Monday evening after colliding with a deer on McNeil Road in Alcona County.
According to the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office, 60-year-old Billy Joe Killen was riding east when the deer ran into him near Colville Road around 4:20 p.m. The impact caused Killen to lose control, resulting in him sliding approximately 90 feet along the road.
Emergency responders transported Killen to MyMichigan Medical Center in Alpena, where he was pronounced dead from serious head injuries. Authorities confirmed he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and found no evidence of intoxication.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
