Motorcyclist killed in collision with car in Big Lake.

BIG LAKE — A motorcycle accident in Big Lake on Wednesday evening resulted in the death of a 51-year-old man, authorities reported.

Leroy H. Frank, a resident of Willow, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at 6 p.m. at the intersection of South Big Lake Road and Lighthouse Drive.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Frank was riding a Yamaha V-Max motorcycle north on South Big Lake Road when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 1996 Chevrolet Metro driven by 46-year-old Johnny J. Edwards of Big Lake.

Troopers stated that Edwards attempted to avoid the crash and was nearly stopped when the motorcycle struck his vehicle. Frank was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, and investigators indicated that alcohol was not a factor.

The incident remains under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol. No additional details concerning injuries to Edwards were reported.
