GLENNALLEN, Alaska (KTUU) – A motorcycle collision claimed the life of a 25-year-old man after he struck a moose calf on the Glenn Highway early Saturday, according to Alaska State Troopers.
Troopers reported that Dennis Straughn III died at the scene at mile 131 shortly after midnight when emergency responders attempted life-saving measures.
Authorities indicated the moose calf had been previously struck by another vehicle and was lying in the roadway when Straughn approached.
Troopers from Glennallen responded to the incident; Straughn was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been notified.
