SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WSBT) — A motorcyclist died in a crash on Michigan Street early Saturday morning.
The incident occurred around 4:45 a.m., just south of Ireland Road.
Authorities identified the motorcyclist as 61-year-old Grant Burkett of South Bend.
Burkett suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, Burkett was westbound on the Bypass when he attempted to take the northbound exit onto Michigan Street.
Evidence indicates the motorcycle failed to complete the curve, resulting in a crash off the roadway.
Northbound traffic on Michigan Street was blocked for several hours during the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing, with South Bend Police leading the efforts.
