San Francisco, CA – Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on Interstate 80 near Bay Bridge

A motorcyclist was killed in a collision on westbound Interstate 80 near the Bay Bridge in San Francisco on Wednesday morning at approximately 5:28 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

CHP logs indicated that the motorcycle may have been struck by another vehicle, possibly a Home Depot truck. The motorcyclist was found down in lane No. 2, while the motorcycle came to rest on the right shoulder.

The rider sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin. Investigations into the other vehicle involved are ongoing, and no arrests have been made.

Emergency responders, including CHP officers, medical personnel, and Caltrans crews, assisted at the scene. The San Francisco Coroner’s Office also responded.

The crash led to a SigAlert on westbound Interstate 80 west of the metering lights, blocking the right lane for several hours. All lanes were reopened by approximately 8:45 a.m., though traffic delays were reported during the investigation.

The incident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
