Motorcyclist Killed in Crash with Tractor-Trailer on Trans Manhattan Expressway
A motorcyclist was killed early Thursday in a collision with a tractor-trailer on the eastbound Trans Manhattan Expressway.
According to the Port Authority Police Department, the crash occurred around 5:19 a.m. First responders, including FDNY personnel, discovered the motorcyclist critically injured at the scene and pronounced them dead. The tractor-trailer driver sustained no injuries.
Authorities have stated the accident is under investigation. The incident caused significant delays on inbound approaches to the George Washington Bridge, with traffic rerouted to local streets in Washington Heights. NYPD traffic agents were deployed to manage congestion during the morning commute.
The road reopened after 10 a.m. The identity of the deceased motorcyclist has not yet been released.
