CLINTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A motorcyclist, seriously injured after hitting a bear on Interstate 78, returned to thank responding troopers this week.
According to the New Jersey State Police, the single-motorcycle crash occurred on June 6 in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 78. The operator, 29-year-old Luis Borges, struck a bear in the roadway, leading to his ejection from the motorcycle and resulting in serious injuries.
Borges was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment and has since been released. On July 22, he and his family visited the Perryville Station to express their appreciation to Troop B’s Squad No. 3 for their prompt assistance at the scene, the State Police reported.
The incident remains under investigation.
