PECOS COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – A 21-year-old man from New Mexico died in a vehicle accident on US 285 Wednesday evening.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the crash occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m. near Mile Marker 284. Authorities reported that Kirt Farook Mohammed was initially traveling northbound when he veered off the roadway while negotiating a curve. Upon correcting his vehicle and returning to the highway, Mohammed struck the southbound vehicle driven by Aidan Conrad Granado of Arenas Valley, New Mexico.
Granado’s vehicle subsequently spun before coming to a stop and catching fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Mohammed sustained minor injuries and declined medical assistance. The crash remains under investigation, with no further details currently available.
