A Union City man faces charges following a fatal hit-and-run that killed a Hoboken pedestrian in Jersey City last year.
Wilson Sanchez, 36, was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus. He is charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision resulting in death, endangering an injured victim, and obstruction.
Jersey City police were notified around 8 p.m. on Dec. 29, 2025, of a pedestrian possibly struck on Tonnelle Avenue near North Street. Officers located Margarito Avendano-Sanchez, 63, of Hoboken, deceased on the northbound side of the roadway.
The vehicle involved in the collision did not remain at the scene. Authorities confirmed that Sanchez is being held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.
