OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – A 16-year-old died in a motorcycle crash on SC 28 near Stumphouse Tunnel Road around 3 p.m. on Friday.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle was heading east when it left the roadway and struck a guardrail.
The Oconee County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Tanner Hopkins from Walhalla, who succumbed to blunt force traumatic injuries. His death has been deemed accidental.
Authorities confirmed Hopkins was a student at Walhalla High School. FOX Carolina is seeking a statement from the school district.
