Motorcyclist Killed in Off-Duty Crash in Sunrise
The Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department is mourning the loss of one of its officers.
SUNRISE, Fla. — Officer Justin Bozeman of the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department was killed in an off-duty motorcycle accident late Saturday night.
According to the Sunrise Police Department, the crash occurred around 10:09 p.m. in the 2400 block of University Drive, involving a motorcycle and another vehicle. Bozeman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries.
MDCR Director Sherea Green confirmed the incident, extending condolences to Bozeman’s family and colleagues. No additional details about the crash or identities involved have been released as the investigation continues, authorities said.
Green stated that the Sunrise Police Department is conducting a thorough investigation. MDCR officials noted that Officer Bozeman was also a member of the agency’s Honor Guard.
The scene has since been cleared, and no lane closures were in effect following the incident.
