One arrested following fatal motorcycle crash in Avoca, according to Arkansas State Police.

Two Killed in Motorcycle Crash in Benton County, Suspect Arrested

BENTON COUNTY, Ark. — A motorcycle crash on US Highway 62 in Avoca left two people dead on March 26, leading to the arrest of a suspect.

According to Arkansas State Police (ASP), 45-year-old Jose Gamez was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and two counts of negligent homicide. Authorities reported that Gamez failed to yield to traffic, resulting in the collision that killed Michael and Freda Cordes.

The ASP noted that the crash occurred in the morning, and Gamez, a resident of Pea Ridge, is being held on a $500,000 bond. He is also subject to an immigration hold and has an outstanding felony warrant from Los Angeles County, California.

Emergency responders were on the scene following the incident, but no additional injuries were reported. The highway was affected by lane closures during the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.
