Three Motorcyclists Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on I-40 Near Mulberry

DYER, Arkansas — An accident involving a wrong-way pickup truck on westbound I-40 claimed the lives of three motorcyclists and left six others injured Thursday evening.

The crash occurred around 6:15 p.m. near mile marker 38, just outside Mulberry. According to Arkansas State Police (ASP), a pickup truck traveling the wrong direction collided with a group of motorcyclists, resulting in three fatalities and multiple injuries. The three deceased have been identified as Leonard Lemar, Jr., 53; Patricia Lemar, 51; and Malinda Shano, 53, all from Louisiana.

Six injured motorcyclists were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Their conditions have not been disclosed. Emergency services, including Mulberry Volunteer Fire Department and Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, responded to the scene.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the truck crossing the median. As of now, no information regarding charges has been released.

Witnesses described the scene as catastrophic, with one motorcyclist stating it was the most horrific accident he had ever witnessed. The interstate was closed for several hours, resulting in significant traffic delays as investigators processed the scene.
