Fatal Motorcycle Collision on US-50 Near Twin Bridges
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – A head-on collision involving a motorcycle and a Lincoln Navigator resulted in one fatality on US-50 at Rock Crusher Curve around 11:19 a.m. Monday.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), an 85-year-old man from Lincoln, Calif., was identified as the deceased. The motorcycle, a white 2009 BMW F650GS, was traveling eastbound when it crossed into the westbound lane, colliding with a westbound 2022 Lincoln Navigator driven by a 38-year-old woman, who sustained no injuries.
First responders, including CHP, are currently at the scene. Eastbound traffic is halted while westbound traffic is moving slowly, with one-way traffic control in effect. There is no estimated time for reopening the road.
Life-saving measures were attempted; however, the motorcycle rider succumbed to his injuries. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and it is currently unclear if alcohol or drugs were involved.
