FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) – A collision on the Richardson Highway near Salcha early Monday morning resulted in one fatality.
According to the Alaska Department of Public Safety, the incident occurred around 6:25 a.m. and involved a passenger sedan and a commercial truck. Authorities reported that the sedan failed to yield at a stop sign before entering the path of the southbound vehicle.
The driver of the sedan, identified as 42-year-old Temitayo Iyanu Kalejaiye, was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been notified. The commercial truck, operated by Black Gold Transport, was an unloaded ore hauler engaged in transportation between Manh Choh and Kinross Fort Knox.
Kinross issued a statement expressing condolences for those affected by the accident and offered support to the families involved.
