Plea Agreement Reached in Case of Fatal Accident Involving Brian Scott.

William Spicer, a Casper businessman, pleaded nolo contendere to negligent homicide in the 2016 motorcycle accident that killed K2 radio host Brian Scott Gamroth.

The plea was part of a pretrial agreement, with Spicer sentenced to 3 years in prison, all suspended pending successful completion of 3 years’ probation, according to the court. He must also pay a $5,120 fine, including fines for speeding, and follow all Department of Corrections regulations.

If he completes probation, the conviction will be expunged from his record. The court will determine specific probation terms at his sentencing on November 13, 2023.

Authorities are conducting pre-sentencing investigations, and the court retains the right to reject the plea agreement. Spicer was initially charged in March 2023 and pleaded not guilty.

The accident occurred on September 18, 2016, along U.S. Highway 87 in Judith Basin County. Gamroth safely passed other vehicles before being struck by Spicer, who was reportedly traveling at speeds exceeding 90 mph, well above the 70 mph speed limit.

Witnesses stated they considered Spicer’s maneuver to be a “bad pass.” Following the collision, Gamroth’s motorcycle was forced into a ditch and into a wooden post, resulting in his death at the scene.
