KUNIA, Hawaii (Hawaii News Now) – A motorcycle crash on Kunia Road resulted in a fatality on Tuesday night.
At approximately 8:20 p.m., a 47-year-old man driving a truck rear-ended a motorcycle near upper Kupuna Loop, according to the Honolulu Police Department.
The 23-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene; authorities confirmed he was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
Police arrested Curtis Colin, the truck driver, on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence and Negligent Homicide.
Investigators noted that while it remains unclear if speed or drugs contributed to the crash, they believe alcohol may have been a factor.
Roadway conditions were affected by the incident; lane closures were implemented as police conducted their investigation.
