Rider Identified in Fatal Waterloo Motorcycle Crash on Wednesday.

WATERLOO, Iowa — A 43-year-old man died Wednesday afternoon after his motorcycle crashed on Sergeant Road near Freedom Lane.

Emergency services received a 911 call about the incident at 3:47 p.m. Upon arrival, authorities found the rider, identified as Marcus Porter, had been thrown from his green 2001 Kawasaki ZX900 motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators report that Porter was riding northbound on Sergeant Road when he left the roadway and struck the median. The collision involved only his motorcycle; no other vehicles were involved.

The crash prompted lane closures on Highway 63 in both directions for approximately one hour while debris was cleared. The Waterloo Police Department is conducting an investigation into the cause of the incident.
