Five Killed in Bus Crash on I-95 in Stafford County, Virginia

Stafford County, VA — A bus crash on Interstate 95 resulted in five fatalities early Friday morning.

The accident occurred at approximately 2:35 a.m. when an E&P Travel bus traveling from New York to North Carolina collided with multiple vehicles near a construction zone, according to the Virginia State Police. In total, at least 44 individuals were transported to local hospitals, with three in critical condition.

Among the deceased were two children, aged 13 and 7, and three adults, ages 25, 44, and 45, all from Massachusetts. The adults died after their vehicle caught fire following the collision.

The bus driver, identified as 48-year-old Jing S. Dong from Staten Island, New York, sustained injuries in the crash. Authorities stated that charges are pending. Dong, originally from China, obtained his commercial driver’s license in New York two years ago.

Emergency services responded quickly to the scene, which resulted in lane closures and multiple tows from the site. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

The Virginia State Police are working to determine the circumstances leading to the collision, including examining the driver’s qualifications and adherence to safety regulations.
