Seventeen-Year-Old Girl Dies in Motorcycle Crash Near Elkton.

ELKTON, MD — A 17-year-old girl from Wilmington, Delaware, was killed in a motorcycle collision south of Elkton on Sunday afternoon, according to Maryland State Police.

The crash occurred around 1 p.m. on Route 213 near Leeds Road, involving two motorcycles. The victim was a passenger on a Kawasaki operated by a 19-year-old man, who was transported to a local hospital with injuries. The operator of a Yamaha motorcycle was uninjured.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the Kawasaki attempted to pass the Yamaha, striking its left side, which led to the accident. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after arrival.

Emergency crews closed the road for over an hour to conduct the on-scene investigation with the MSP Crash Team. As of Monday afternoon, the investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities have urged motorcyclists to ride responsibly, emphasizing visibility, proper gear, defensive riding, and vigilant road sharing.
