A crash involving a motorcycle and an electric bicycle in Port Huron has resulted in the death of a 15-year-old girl, police reported.
On Monday at 10:02 p.m., officers responded to a traffic collision in the 2800 block of Electric Avenue, according to authorities.
A preliminary investigation revealed the girl was traveling the wrong way on her electric bicycle when struck by the motorcycle, officials said.
The motorcycle operator remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, authorities added.
The teen was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries despite emergency personnel efforts.

In related news, regional authorities reported multiple bicycle-related traffic incidents recently. Earlier in June, a child died in Washtenaw County after being struck by a vehicle while biking. A week prior, a 46-year-old man fatally crashed his minibike in Pontiac.
According to Michigan State Police, since last week, 17 people have died on Michigan roadways, bringing the total to 515 fatalities this year. There were 116 serious injuries reported statewide, totaling 2,830. This reflects a decrease of 23 fatalities and 43 serious injuries compared to the same period last year.
