Three Dead in Collision Between Rideshare Tesla and Motorcycle Couple on Route 301 as Police Hunt for Hit-and-Run Driver.

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. – Three people died in a crash involving a motorcycle and a Tesla on Route 301 early Sunday morning.

At approximately 12:45 a.m. on July 12, Maryland State Police responded to reports of the collision at Route 301 and Governors Park Lane. A black Tesla Model 3 was attempting to turn left onto Governors Park Lane when it failed to yield to a Harley-Davidson traveling southbound, resulting in a crash.

Witnesses reported a third vehicle struck the Harley-Davidson’s passenger side after the initial collision and then left the scene. Authorities are seeking information about the unidentified vehicle; anyone with details is urged to contact Sgt. Gore at 410-819-4753.

The motorcyclist, Matthew Eric Vowell, 48, and passenger, Krystal Ann Vowell, 47, both from Friendship, Maryland, were pronounced dead at the scene. A rear passenger in the Tesla, Adriana Lanae Maxwell, 22, from Glen Burnie, Maryland, was also pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Tesla was transported to a local hospital for treatment. It is believed the Tesla was operating as a rideshare service during the incident.

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration assisted with road closures that lasted over four hours. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the ongoing investigation, which will be submitted to the Office of the State’s Attorney in Prince George’s County for potential charges.
