COLUMBIA, Miss. (WDAM) – Three individuals sustained serious injuries during a motorcycle benefit ride for injured Covington County Deputy Yates Rodney on Saturday.
Columbia Police Chief Adrian Fortenberry stated that the accident occurred around noon at the intersection of Highway 13 and Highway 35. Two motorcycles were involved in the collision.
One motorcycle, carrying two individuals, resulted in one being airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center and the other transported via ambulance to Forrest General Hospital.
The second motorcycle was operated by a Richland police officer, who was also airlifted to Forrest General Hospital.
All three victims suffered serious injuries. Fortenberry confirmed the scene was cleared by 1:30 p.m. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is conducting the investigation.
