THONOTOSASSA, Fla. – A fatal motorcycle crash on I-4 Wednesday afternoon is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol, who seek the driver of a hit-and-run tractor-trailer.
At 5:45 p.m., a 26-year-old man from Lakeland was traveling westbound on I-4 when he attempted to pass two tractor-trailers. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist lost control while lane-splitting and fell off his motorcycle, resulting in him being fatally struck by one of the trucks.
The tractor-trailer that struck the motorcyclist fled the scene and continued westbound on I-4. The identity of the driver remains unknown.
