Tragic Crash Claims Life of Armuchee High School Student.

Summerville, GA – A 15-year-old Armuchee High School student died Thursday afternoon following a motorcycle crash on Dry Creek Road.

Elijah Espy was riding a Honda dirt bike northbound when he collided with a Tesla making a left turn into a driveway around 4:15 p.m., according to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP). Espy was thrown from the bike and died at the scene.

Authorities reported that the Tesla’s driver, a 61-year-old man, slowed down prior to the turn, which contributed to the incident. Preliminary investigations indicated that poor sight distance, weather, and the absence of headlights on the dirt bike were factors in the crash.

The GSP’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is continuing the investigation. The Chattooga County Coroner’s Office was also on-site to assist.

Espy’s death marks the second traffic-related fatality involving an Armuchee student in a month. Another 15-year-old Armuchee student died in a separate car accident on September 9, prompting the school to postpone a football game.

Armuchee High School expressed their sorrow on social media, stating, “Our hearts are broken as we mourn the loss of one of our own.” The school urged the community to keep Espy’s family and friends in their thoughts during this difficult time.

Authorities continue to seek additional information regarding this tragic incident and will release more details as they become available.
