MADISONVILLE, Ky. – Two fatalities were confirmed in a collision involving a motorcycle and a tractor-trailer on Interstate 69 northbound on Thursday night.
According to the Kentucky State Police, the incident occurred near the 75-mile marker at approximately 11:30 p.m. Authorities stated that Gregory Standard of Louisville was operating the tractor-trailer when he reported observing a motorcycle experiencing equipment failure.
Witnesses reported that the tractor-trailer was directly behind the motorcycle when it lost control, resulting in a secondary collision. The motorcycle’s occupants, 55-year-old Michael McAlister and 57-year-old Laura McAlister, both of Princeton, Kentucky, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Caldwell County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities confirmed that the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured. No criminal charges have been filed as the investigation continues. Lane closures were in effect during the emergency response.
