AURORA | A car crash early Saturday in Aurora left one man dead and two drivers injured, according to authorities.
Police responded to the intersection of South Peoria Street and East Jewell Avenue around 3 a.m. after receiving reports of the incident.
Preliminary investigations reveal that a Hyundai SUV was turning south onto South Peoria Street from westbound Jewell Avenue when it collided with a southbound Nissan Xterra, police spokesperson Joe Moylan stated. An adult male passenger in the Hyundai suffered critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
The deceased will be identified by coroner officials. Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were also hospitalized.
Authorities indicated that alcohol is being investigated as a potential factor in the crash, as both drivers showed signs of consumption.
No further details have been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
