PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) – Two fatal crashes occurred in Pueblo County Saturday night, leading to investigations by the Colorado State Patrol.
The first incident involved a pedestrian struck by a Chevrolet Trax on eastbound Highway 50 at milepost 312 around 9:50 p.m. Authorities confirmed the pedestrian, identified as 46-year-old Robert J. Hepler, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary reports indicate Hepler was crossing Highway 50 southbound when the Chevrolet was traveling eastbound. The driver attempted to brake but struck the pedestrian.
The second crash occurred on Highway 165 at milepost 36 around 11:20 p.m. A single-vehicle accident involving a Subaru Impreza Outback resulted in the death of the driver, identified as 36-year-old Crystal M. Case.
According to authorities, Case was eastbound on Highway 165 when she failed to navigate a right-hand curve, crossed oncoming traffic, and went off the left shoulder. The Subaru subsequently rolled over, ejecting the driver.
The investigations into both crashes are ongoing, with no cause determined at this time.
