Motorcycle Collision Injures Two Near St. Thomas, N.D.
ST. THOMAS, N.D. — A motorcycle rider and his passenger were injured in a collision with a pickup truck on Saturday, July 18, around 1 p.m. on Highway 66.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the motorcycle, a 2008 Harley Davidson, was traveling westbound near a group of motorcyclists when the incident occurred. A 2026 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound. The motorcycle driver, a 36-year-old man from St. Thomas, braked sharply for another slowing bike, lost control, and crossed the centerline, striking the Silverado.
Both the motorcycle rider and his 27-year-old female passenger, also from St. Thomas and not wearing helmets, were thrown from the bike and sustained serious injuries. They were transported to a hospital in Grafton, with the driver later transferred to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks for further treatment.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 27-year-old woman from Louisiana, was not injured, as she was wearing a seat belt.
Authorities have not released the names of those involved. The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, with support from the Pembina County Sheriff’s Office, Cavalier County Ambulance, and St. Thomas Quick Response Unit/Fire Department. Lane closures were reported in the area during the response.
